Operation S.P.L.A.S.H. – A Low-Cost Solution to Waterfront Pollution. SPLASH volunteers have removed over 3,000,000 pounds of debris since 1990.
SPLASH volunteers patrol the South Shore, L.I. urban waters removing debris, monitoring and identifying pollutants as well as their sources.
This fully volunteer-based organization was established in 1990 in Freeport, LI, NY, and the model has been replicated by six Nassau and Suffolk County communities, forming seven chapters with six workboats in operation from March through November each year.
With the leadership of talented and environmentally passionate marine tradespeople, educators, and business owners, SPLASH has stayed focused on its mission and produced extraordinary results.
